BACKGROUND

Four main influences to consider with trust and influence. You need to decide how you will formulate your conversation by understanding:

  • Who you are talking to

  • Why you are talking to them

  • Your relationship with them

  • What action you want them to take


INTRODUCTION

A) What communication is and how it is different in business. Ie communication is a two way exchange of information, however, when in business you require a result.B) There have been changes to communication over the last few years prompted by Covid and the use of masks, physical touch, screens. Short overview of how this has impacted trust and influence through changes in body language.


BODY LANGUAGE

Is none verbal communication which can take up to 80% of communication on first meetings. We communicate with body language first before tone of voice, and the words we speak. It is a vital part of face2face communication and can also effect conversations where you cannot see the person you are talking to.


PERSONALITY STYLES

There are 4 main personality styles that take on information.

  • Pragmatic - make quick decisions - already have facts / information

  • Extrovert - in a hurry - like excitement - want everyone involved

  • Amiable - say yes too often - always busy - easily interrupted

  • Analytical - survive on information - ask questions - need proof

These four personality styles talk in different ways, and are identifiable by their looks so a quick overview of these points too. Without taking into account this knowledge you will be giving information that is not digested and probably not motivating people to take correct action.


physical EXERCISES

This workshop would include interactive exercises that could be utilised for the audience whilst they are at their seats or moving around in the session. Some examples include...Left Eye Contact with feet on the ground
Changing from fear/worry to comfort
Crown usage
These exercises show how best to position yourself for one2one communications. Practical yet quality small gestures in body language can create warmth, engagement, trust, cooperation and influence.


NOTES ON BODY LANGUAGE

Mirroring and why we’ve got it wrong. Just imagine that you are talking to someone who is depressed or angry if you copy their behaviours you could spiral downwards to a situation you cannot retrieve.Know that there are cultural differences that effect behaviour
Eg blind babies smile, shake their heads, cry, all basic body language
